Graduation Invites

A good friend of mine is graduating next month and I’m so excited for her! Recently she asked if I would make her graduation invitations and I was able to have some fun creating them for her. She wanted to keep them somewhat formal and tie in the schools colors of black and gold so I used a nice black ribbon going around the top of the invite with a shiny gold ribbon across the top for an accent. (That ended up being a challenge to attach the gold ribbon) She had mentioned putting a circular Class of 2011 on the top so I finally was able to use my circular scallop paper punch and came up with a nice medallion to center across the ribbon. She also needed 2 smaller cards for ceremony directions and celebration information.

This is the part of design that I enjoy the most in that every project is new and different. Do you have any new projects to share? Enjoy your weekend!

Back in the swing of things…

Hi everyone! I know I’ve been a bit MIA recently and I’m sorry about that but I’m getting back in the swing of things! After getting laid off from my day job I’ve suddenly had extra free time. The whole time I had been working 2 jobs plus freelancing I was forced to make time for myself in order to keep my sanity. I figured only working 1 job now would give me lots more time for creativity but it in turn had the reverse effect. Only working my bartending job has changed my schedule a ton with late nights and sleeping in mornings and this drastic change has definitely flipped my world upside down and put me in limbo. The one thing that has been keeping my sanity right now is my running. No matter what is going on in my life running always makes me feel better and right now I’m training for my first full marathon. My friend Angela and I are going to run the Disney Marathon in January and am looking forward to the challenge.

The past month hasn’t been all work though. I’ve finally had more time with my hubby since I’m actually home. He took me out to Tampa for my birthday when the Red Sox were in town and it was an amazing game. 16 innings!!! Sox won 1-0 so it was a fantastic game!

Scarily enough I’ve even started trying to cook more with my new free time! The other night I made a ham and pineapple dish with mac and cheese from scratch. I was so proud of myself I took a pic and sent it to mom who said it looked right out of a Julia Child photo. I don’t think I’d go that far but for the girl who never cooked I’d say I earned myself a gold star =)

Hope you all are enjoying your summer!
