Garage sale time!

This has definitely been a long time coming and we have finally gotten to that point where we have officially admitted we have too much stuff lol. We have a 2 car garage but do you know how many cars we park in it? None! Yup we tend to keep everything thinking we’ll use it “some day”. From sporting equipment to a couch, lots of books and kitchen stuff and so on. We didn’t realize how much we had accumulated over the years. It probably didn’t help that once we bought our house the first thing my parents did (well, after they said congrats) was pack up one of those large storage containers of everything I still had at their house and shipped it down to us. So with no kids but boxes of leggos, matchbox cars and transformers we figured it was time to pass things on and let someone else enjoy these.

This is the start of things from the kitchen and it’s going to take some time to go through everything. At least Dusty is hanging around to keep me company. (He’s my little buddy)

It’s been a bit overwhelming as to where to begin so I’ve been busy making lists and trying to get things organized. I pulled out one of my To-do lists which you can find and print one for yourself here and have started to get to work. Anyone have some ideas for a first time garage sale?

5 favorites friday

Are you ready for the long weekend? Any big plans? We have a good friends wedding to go to on sun and hoping to relax and enjoy some beachtime too. (I definitely need to get a little color so I don’t look like casper)

Reina. I am absolutely in loooove with this font! Everything about it, the curves, the feel, the swashes… {ahh swoon}

This is the life… Absolute calming relaxation. I think I’m going to have to get this poster from AllPosters.com and continue to dream.

Mini Bunting! This is super cute and such a great DIY project idea from How About Orange. They used pretty masking tape and the best part is when you get tired of the design just peel it off and make a new one.

Delicate envelopes. design.mein has a great step by step guide to creating these envelopes out of doily’s. I’m definitely going to have to try these out.

Colorful decorations. Everyday Celebrating shows an easy DIY wreath created out of those little drink umbrellas. What a clever idea!

I hope you’re having a great friday and enjoy the long weekend!

Stationery

Wow it’s been a busy week! It seems that my purple floral stationery has been a favorite recently. Last week I made them into Thank You cards and this week I’m printing more for stationery. You can check them out here. I’m so glad that people are enjoying them and that there are still people who like to handwrite notes and letters instead of always writing an email. I always love checking the mail and mixed in with all the bills and junk find a nice special card to cheer up my day. =)

House Projects

Hi guys! Just checking in as I’ve been a bit MIA the past week. Things have been crazy around the house. It seems like one thing after another keeps breaking since it’s an older house (I miss having a landlord that you can call to fix things). Looking out in the backyard the other day we realized our grass was pretty much dead and yet our neighbors was nice and green. We haven’t been getting a lot of rain but that’s why we have sprinklers… or so we thought. I woke the next morning to the sound of the sprinkler pump but upon walking around the house realized that the pump was running dry… no water. oh no!

Being the stubborn person I am, I was determined to try and fix it myself instead of paying someone. After talking with a friend I was able to figure out where the sprinkler pump is and how to re-prime the pump. Hooray! Ran the cycle through and thought I was successful. Waited a couple days and decided to test the sprinklers and then put them back on the timer. wait… not working. Water was dumping out of the extra zone pipe that it’s supposed to bypass. After a few more phone calls and some old school banging (yes I literally took to banging on the pipes) I think we are good to go.

Finally can check one thing off the house project list!
Have you been working on any projects at home?

Delicious…

It’s been in the mid 90′s all week with high humidity so it’s not the most pleasant weather to say the least. The last thing I wanted to do when I got home from work last night was cook dinner and especially didn’t want to turn on the oven and make it hotter. Then I remembered an old quick meal my mom used to make when I was a kid. Super easy and light so perfect for a hot day. It’s a mix of cubed ham, cheese, and a whole assortment of fruits. I used pineapples, mandarin oranges and cantaloupe since that is what I had in the house. I made up a dressing of sour cream mixed with the pineapple reserve which made for a little sweetness to top it off.

My mom would definitely make the comment that their is nothing “green” on my plate but hey you like what you like. My hubby put lettuce under his… just not on mine. It was definitely one of those nights when a cold meal was better and then we just relaxed and vegged out after dinner.

Enjoy your week!

Pinterest favorites

I’ve gotten completely addicted to Pinterest and have found sooo many crafts and new ideas that I would love to try. I’ve decided that I need a ton of extra hours in the day or a coffee IV so I don’t have to sleep Lol. I have found decor that I absolutely adore as well as beautiful color combos, inspirational sayings and so many cute crafts that people have come up with. Here are a few of my favorites:

Clockwise from top left these were found from the following sites: marthastewart.com, ehomee.com, abeachcottage.com, weepingcherries.wordpress.com, moredesignplease.com, suziebeezie.tumblr.com.

Check out these and others of my Pins on Pinterest.
Since Pinterest is still in Beta let me know if you need an invite to get started!

Margarita madness!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Hope you are all enjoying a nice day. The weather here cooled off a little so it is beautiful out, although I’m stuck indoors working right now…boo. Looking forward to enjoying this yummy treat when I get out of work later.

Have a great night!

Special card for mom =)

Finished my card for mom this morning so I was able to make the mail and it will arrive on time for mother’s day. Yeah! This had a new ribbon on it that I just got and have now found I love the delicate look but it’s a little more difficult to attach to the card. I’ll have to see if there is a better way when I use it next time. (I may just be too picky but you can see the glue through the ribbon a little bit)

Does anyone have any special plans for Mother’s Day? It’s hard living so far away sometimes when I can’t go home for weekends such as this but we have a date to “see” each other on Skype so I’m looking forward to that. Enjoy your week!

Happy Monday!

Happy monday! It was another gorgeous weekend and so nice to be able to turn off the AC and have all the windows open to get some fresh air through the house. Even though I didn’t get to work on any crafts over the weekend it was still an extremely productive weekend. I went through all the piles of paperwork that had been piling up and filed away old statements and things that we don’t need. Started to go through the old magazines as well but that project is going to take a while. Our favorite Sports Illustrated covers will be kept so they can be hung in the sports room and I’ll save the good workouts out of the Fitness mags. Craft magazines are so hard to get rid of because I want to make everything! I figure I’ll keep my favorites and then pass on the others to the library so others can enjoy them too.

The big news of the week is that my brother found out they are going to have a girl, Yeah!! I had made this baby blanket for my nephew a few years back and he still carries it around with him everywhere so I’ll have to make a new special one for his baby sister. I had fun picking out the colors which is definitely easier this time since they decided to find out what they are having ahead of time. Can’t wait to be an Auntie again and spoil the new little one =)

Enjoy your week!
