Happy Holidays!

I can’t help but feel like a little kid around this time of year, getting all giddy as I pull out all the holiday decorations. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday because it’s the one time of year when our whole family got together. Of course as we grew up we’ve moved away and started families so it’s gotten harder to see everyone. Last year our Christmas present to mom was getting the family linked up with Skype so we could still “see”each other. It’s not perfect but it works when we can’t always travel home.

My mom started a great tradition the year I was born and to this day we still continue it. Every Christmas she would get myself and my brother a new ornament for the tree. The thought behind this was there would be a memory from each year to hold onto and when we grew up and moved out we would have the start of a collection for our own trees. Every year when I unpack the decorations I sit for hours going through them all and remembering the great times we had growing up. Thanks mom!!

Christmas Tree

Living in Florida I’ve given in and did a no-no. (it’s a fake tree!) But I still think it looks great and even Dusty likes to curl up underneath. Here’s a couple ornaments from some past years.

Mom had made these snowflakes years ago. She crocheted them and then applied a starch so they they would stiffen up and we have them hanging all over the tree and throughout the house.

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays!!

Personalized Note Cards

I have been working on 2 different floral designs and incorporated them into a new design for note cards. Since it’s the holiday season I decided to create a set of cards for my mom and my sister-in-law (hopefully they won’t see them on here before xmas or it’s not going to be a surprise anymore). I couldn’t wait to share them though so here they are! They are printed on this fantastic textured cardstock that gives them such a unique feel. They are now available in my Etsy Shop as well.

The Blog Guidebook

Recently I came across a great friendly forum for bloggers that helps you showcase your personal blog and connects you with others that have similar interests. The Blog Guidebook is a fantastic blog put together by Lyndsay and Sarah which has great resources. Since I still feel like a beginner it’s been great for tips, tricks, tutorials and other really useful articles to help you get started.

One of the great articles for those just getting started is Blogging for Newbies. Of course I had tried to jump ahead myself before doing some reading and ended up buying a domain and struggling through figuring out WordPress while fighting with it all at the same time. (I finally figured things out but it was definitely the hard way. haha) Well for those of you who haven’t started yet or have questions this is perfect!

After you get your blog started you can list your blog in the category that is fitting to your site. Join in the fun and help the community continue to grow!
