Photo Magic
Ever have that photo where you thought you had the perfect shot only to later see the huge ugly obstruction in the background? Think we all have. Most of us are not Ansel Adams so we rarely get that perfect photo. That’s not to say that we can’t make it perfect…Hello PhotoShop! Recently my cousin had sent a photo to me asking if I could remove a few things from the photo so she could frame it for my uncle. When I got the pic it had some ugly orange construction cones right in the front of what was an adorable photo of my aunt and uncle who have been together for over 50 years!
So the challenge begins. Above is the original photo and the first step was to remove the cones from the foreground. That was the easy part because I then realized I had to get out the orange reflection on the side of the car. From there came the removal of the sign from the building and truck from the background. I was even able to remove the guy that you could see through the car window in the background. I’m so happy with the way it turned out and pleased that I could help out and make the photo perfect for him. =)
Do you have any projects you have been working on recently?
A special sentiment
I hope everyone had a wonderful mother’s day yesterday and got to spend some time with their loved ones. This is one of the times that I miss living close to home when I can see my family any time I choose. Mom and I are going to have a Skype date tomorrow though so I’m looking forward to “seeing” her! Here’s the card that I made her for Mother’s day.
I even had the perfect stamp sentiment to use on the inside of the card. I always have so much fun making cards for mom and hope she likes this one =)
We all scream for ice cream!
Fried ice cream that is! Thanks to Kami over at No Biggie I found her recipe for fried ice cream the other day and of course had to try it. Check out her recipe here. Surprisingly we had everything already in the house as we are big on sundae’s except for the whipped cream so I’ll have to try it again when we have that around. It was super simple to make and wasn’t too much of a mess. The plastic gloves definitely was the way to go to make the ice cream balls easier and we had a few left over from house projects. It made for a very nice treat to enjoy during our movie night. Hope you guys are having a great week!
Special delivery!
Last year I was first introduced to Washi tape and I instantly fell in love with all the beautiful patterns and designs. Some are simple while others are elegant and intricate. I had been looking for some for a while now but found it difficult to location it in the states. I’m lucky to have an awesome friend. She went home to Japan for a bit to visit her family and brought some back for me. I’ve never had a gift from overseas so super excited that she was sweet enough to pick some up for me.
Check out the beautiful patterns she picked out for me!
I can’t wait to start playing and seeing what designs I can come up with! Happy Monday!
Pinterest favorites
I’ve gotten completely addicted to Pinterest and have found sooo many crafts and new ideas that I would love to try. I’ve decided that I need a ton of extra hours in the day or a coffee IV so I don’t have to sleep Lol. I have found decor that I absolutely adore as well as beautiful color combos, inspirational sayings and so many cute crafts that people have come up with. Here are a few of my favorites:
Clockwise from top left these were found from the following sites: marthastewart.com, ehomee.com, abeachcottage.com, weepingcherries.wordpress.com, moredesignplease.com, suziebeezie.tumblr.com.
Check out these and others of my Pins on Pinterest.
Since Pinterest is still in Beta let me know if you need an invite to get started!
Happy pinning!
Creative Souls Telesummit
I’m so excited to participate in a new telesummit beginning today! It’s the Creative Souls Telesummit which begins today and will be going through May 20th. They have 13 speakers lined up along with bonus speakers that have lots of creative wisdom to share.
I think this is going to be a great way to learn from the best creative minds. Sometimes we all need to regain our focus so we can go forward with our creative plans and live out our passions.
This is an amazing free event so come and check it out!
Have you heard of Pinterest? I just did the other day and it’s so addictive and I have already gotten lost finding all kinds of unique goodies. So much fun although it’s kind of hard to describe. The best way I can put it is that it’s like a virtual inspiration board taken from sources all over the web. You can make “boards” or groups and then “pin” things to them. Same concept as if you were pinning a great idea onto your bulletin board. You can re-pin things that others have pinned, leave comments, follow people and “like” things.
It’s super addictive but it’s giving me great inspiration for some projects I’d like to try out.
Pinterest is in beta right now, so you need an invite if you want to start pinning yourself. Need an invite? Just let me know. Here’s mine to check out! Let me know if you’re on too, I’d love to check out your pins!
Have a great weekend =)
Monster Straws
How cute! A little bit ago I had done some work on a logo for a straw wrapper and this morning the owner sent me a photo of the wrappers to see. Sometimes when you design something for a client that doesn’t live in your area you never get to see the finished product so it was cool to see the wrappers. I’m not sure who did the little monster guy but he’s super cute. For this one I re-created the name of the company in hand-designed letters which you can see in the original example below.
How is everyone’s week going?
Right-Brainers Business Summit
A friend just shared this Video Summit with me that is for creative business individuals in helping them achieve success. Jennifer Lee, the organizer of the summit, just came out with a new book “The Right-Brain Business Plan: A Creative, Visual Map for Success” which shares tips and tools for running a successful business your way. I just ordered the book so I’m anxious for it to arrive!!! To go along with her book she has launched a 2 week long video summit in which she is joined by five creative entrepreneurs who will be sharing their business plans and success stories. What great inspiration!
The summit is running from February 28th to March 11th and it’s Free! Even though it began earlier this week there is still plenty of information that you can learn from these successful entrepreneurs and I’m looking forward to joining this community to learning more on how to get my creative business going.
Here’s a few of the things they have listed that will be included in the summit:
- How, as a right-brain entrepreneur, you’re pioneering a new way of work
- The secrets to standing out from the crowd, with ease and authenticity
- Insider tips on how to connect with your perfect customers
- How to use your intuition and imagination to increase your income
- Why creative cohorts are key to keeping you sane and expanding your reach
- Some simple ways to boost your productivity so you can get more done
- Knowing what to say yes to and what to say no to
- How to celebrate your progress and keep your momentum going
- How crafting a Right-Brain Business Plan has helped creative entrepreneurs just like you make huge strides in their business (you’ll get to see live “Show and Tell Spotlights”)
- How to make your creative right-brain gifts work for you – they’re actually your most valuable business asset!
I’ve just signed up so I’m super excited for today’s video and getting inspired!
The Blog Guidebook
Recently I came across a great friendly forum for bloggers that helps you showcase your personal blog and connects you with others that have similar interests. The Blog Guidebook is a fantastic blog put together by Lyndsay and Sarah which has great resources. Since I still feel like a beginner it’s been great for tips, tricks, tutorials and other really useful articles to help you get started.
One of the great articles for those just getting started is Blogging for Newbies. Of course I had tried to jump ahead myself before doing some reading and ended up buying a domain and struggling through figuring out WordPress while fighting with it all at the same time. (I finally figured things out but it was definitely the hard way. haha) Well for those of you who haven’t started yet or have questions this is perfect!
After you get your blog started you can list your blog in the category that is fitting to your site. Join in the fun and help the community continue to grow!
